WestOne Cars Increases it‘s Environmentally Friendly Fleet

WestOne Cars, a leading provider of private hire passenger car services offering Environmentally Friendly services and a portfolio of other passenger car services on a 24/7 basis, has increased its number of environmentally friendly vehicles by introducing the third generation Toyota Prius to its fleet.

The third generation Prius, which was launched in August 2009, uses Toyota's improved Hybrid Synergy Drive system; a combination of an electric motor and a petrol engine. It has got a fifth more power and is 10% more economical than the previous Prius. With a combined fuel consumption figure of 72.4 mpg and C02 output of just 89 g/km it is the top eco saloon car on the market and is the best in its class offering WestOne Cars' clients an environmentally friendly passenger car option without having to compromise on comfort or quality.

WestOne Cars, which is the only UK passenger car company to hold the Royal Warrant for the provision of chauffeur services, has operated in the private hire industry for over 30 years and in this time has built a reputation for consistently providing high standards of service and quality. WestOne Cars recognises that the provision of its passenger car services have an impact on the environment and, as a result, has implemented a comprehensive environmental programme which includes offering clients environmentally friendly vehicle options for their passenger car journeys. 

WestOne Cars continuously looks for new vehicles which are environmentally friendly and commercially viable and, as a non-asset owning company, is able to introduce new environmentally friendly vehicles into its fleet the moment they become available. So far in 2009 WestOne Cars' environmentally friendly fleet has increased from 5% to 30% and is on target to reach 50% by the end of the year.

WestOne Cars environmental programme, which has been accredited with the internationally recognised ISO 14001:2004 - Environmental Management System (EMS), also includes the use of GPS technology to utilise its fleet and allocate the nearest driver to each job to reduce wasted mileage and a thorough fuel efficient driving training programme for all drivers. WestOne Cars has also taken its programme one step further by offering clients the opportunity to assess and reduce their own carbon footprint through the use of carbon reports and carbon audits which identify the C02 emissions produced by clients current passenger car journeys and how by selecting alternative vehicles, such as the Toyota Prius, and consolidating journeys they can significantly reduce carbon emissions.
